Peaches and cream

7 For All Mankind Skinny in Blush Lustre denim,
Karen Millen top, Zara faux-fur coat, Guess? shoes,
MICHAEL Michael Kors handbag

With pastels “blooming” all over the runways and inside our closets the sweet shade of peach took its special spot under the sun. Rich and “delicious” this beautiful hue instantly adds a feminine touch to any ensemble. Though so perfect for airy spring designs it makes even structured pieces look fresher and lighter while also amazingly sophisticated.

BCBG Max Azria Keli one-shoulder dress, $198

BCBG Max Azria Abree relaxed jacket, $268

Wear peach head-to-toe for a whimsical feel or do still so trendy colorblocking. Pair it with other pastels, but bolder and brighter, such as coral or lavender, or for a more subtle combination, pick nudes or metallics.

BCBG Max Azria Liberty mixed fabric blouse, $178

BCBG Max Azria Sofi pleated color-blocked dress, $268

For make-up consider an overall neutral color palette but lipstick - in a juicy and saturated shade. Depending on your skin tone choose colors like watermelon, raspberry or plum for a fresh look and glow.

MANGO Basic foulard in Peach,
 $24.99
MANGO Translucid frame sunglasses,
 $34.99

Pretty People in the Pretty City

It's me wearing MANGO sweater dress,
Bebe faux-leather jacket

PrettyCity.com is an ultimate beauty guide where you can read all about the hottest make-up and hair trends, newest brands and products, get the insight about salons and spas you are interested in and even strike a deal. And last night this online beauty guru hosted another one of their events in Los Angeles that I could not miss.

My girlfriend Jodi

Held in Beverly Hills’ upscale GavertAtelier salon, it was all about being pretty; chair massages and hand treatments by Nectar's Mobile Spa, skin consultations by Michelle Beverly Hills and blow-dries were offered to every guest. For those who loved to shop there was a small set-up with the latest Elana Orlin collection of jewelry and accessories. The goodie bag filled with Stephen Knoll hair products and Tria skincare was a nice bonus for the evening.  I also loved that all the proceeds from the tickets were donated to The Beauty Bus Foundation that provides mobile beauty services for people fighting serious diseases and their caregivers.

Overall my girlfriend and I had a really great time at this “Girls’ Night Out” and definitely will be back at the next PrettyCity.com event!

Fashion illusion

Kate Moss in Stella McCartney LBD

I really love the idea of fashion creating different illusions. Whatever it is, peak shoulder, dramatic peplum or just a smart colorblock, it is amazing how easily you can “alter” your body using these tricks. One of my favorite ones is definitely the black and nude combo which you can take an advantage of in both clothing and shoes.

BCBG Max Azria Alyona strapless cocktail dress

Just take a look at Kate Moss in this Stella McCartney LBD and how curvy her figure appears to be! It is all thanks to a nude side panel that literally carves Kate’s body into a shape a-la Marilyn Monroe. The BCBG Max Azria Alyona Strapless Dress is another great example of a clothing “wizard” that also creates an hourglass silhouette even on a relatively straight body type. Thanks to the higher waist line and colorblock technique (nude is on the bottom part) it also makes your legs look a mile long. You can achieve a similar effect by wearing “smart” shoes like my Charles David black and nude booties. A lot of times ankle boots are not the most flattering as they visually “cut off” the leg where as these actually elongate the leg line. And of course they are so much more fun and edgier than a classic pair of nude heels!

Crop your top

Carrie Bradshaw is rocking cropped tops

Love, love, love “Sex and The City”, Carrie Bradshaw and her amazing style! So bold and fearless with an amazing ability to pull off any extravagant design, her character became a real fashion icon. And that New-Yorker did not hesitate to wear cropped tops!

BeFree top, Hudson Mid-rise Nico Skinny,
MICHAEL Michael Kors shoes

Cropped tops have been a runway staple already for a few seasons. Designers like Proenza Schouler, Emilio Pucci, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana featured them in their shows. From demanding very short and fitted ones to more forgiving with boxier fits, crops are officially VERY HOT! For the trendiest look wear them with a pant or a skirt with a higher waist line.

Free People Peter Pan lace top, $78

Free People Racer Baby tee, $88

But to my surprise it is actually quite challenging to find them in the stores. If you take really expensive luxury brands out of consideration, then there is really not much out there for the average consumer…  Anyway, if you are really into trying this high-fashion trend without spending a fortune Free People is the brand for you. They have a tremendous amount of cropped tops in different colors and shapes so you definitely will be able to pick the right one.

Free People Izzy floral crochet back tank, $98,
Heart and Soul Embroidered top, $88 (at Bloomingdale's)

Free People Candy ruffle stripe crop, $68,
Daisy Lace baseball, $98 (at Bloomingdale's)

New denimology.com review

Check out my new review for The 7 For All Mankind Kauai Print Skinny on denimology.com!

Tangerine Tango - Color of 2012!

Guess? by Marciano dress, Mexx sportcoat,
Guess? shoes, ABS by Allen Schwartz cuff
Shameful to say, but I never knew that such a thing as the official color of the year even existed. But apparently The Pantone Institute has been choosing it each year already for more than a decade, influencing development in many industries such as fashion, home, industrial and graphic design. Tangerine Tango (pantone #17-1463) was officially announced as the star of 2012!

So selecting the color of the year is quite a thoughtful and thorough process that considers many factors like social and economic situations, new technologies, popular vacation destinations, hot new artists and upcoming films. That’s why in today's difficult and unstable political and economic conditions The Pantone Institute felt that warm and energetic Tangerine Tango is the one for 2012. This reddish orange is the embodiment of high spirit and strong will along with friendliness and sophistication.

Guess? Eloise half-sleeve dress

Vivid and eye-catching, Tangerine along with all its possible shades was quickly picked up by fashion designers who have incorporated it in their 2012 collections. Bright and fun, orange is an amazing color for spring and summer and of course so classic and a must-have for fall.

Guess? Multi-chain short necklace, Wrap-around bracelet with stones,
Coral center cab ring

Guess? Nanci Pumps

While being quite universal in clothing and accessories, in make-up orange is not always flattering. Easy to pull off in nail polish or blush it can be tricky in lipstick or eye shadow. That’s why if you want to give it a try but are not quite sure how Sephora’s PANTONE Universe events could be very useful for you. Pop-up Color shops with a new limited edition collection inspired by Tangerine Tango and experienced make-up artist teams will help you find just the right way to inject this bright hue in your look.

Guess? Feminine classic hi-energy watch set with three
interchangeable straps

Guess? has an amazing assortment of pieces with different shades of orange – from dresses and tops to shoes and jewelry. Some bright, some dimmer, there are definitely a few ones for you!

Blooming in style

7 For All Mankind Kauai print skinny,
Guess? top, Banana Republic shoes

Bold floral prints became of the top trends of this Spring/Summer and are completely taking over our closets, “blooming” on our dresses, shoes, bags and even jewelry. In the world of “boyfriend” jeans and masculine blazers they bring to us the touch of femininity and glamour.

Lush and colorful, florals are super fun to wear, while being extremely easy to use in building an outfit. They beautifully work with solid hues picked up from the pattern or even with other subtle prints like stripes, polka dots or checks; everything depends on how far you are willing to go in mixing prints.

Roses, lilies and tulips found their sunny spot even in denim fashion and now are blossoming on tens of styles of different jeans. Pretty much every single denim brand offers you at list a few options of floral pants. And honestly what can be better for the warm and active days of spring and summer than a pair of fun and vibrant jeans? I myself already have two, The 7 For All Mankind Garden Party Skinny that I have mentioned about in one of my posts and The Kauai Print Skinny, which I totally love!

Givenchy by Ricardo Tisci Resort 2012 Collection

One of the modern updates of a classic floral print is the 3D florals, which look like a photo coming to life right while you are wearing it. Some with futuristic looking design twists, 3D flower prints are just mesmerizing! My favorites are definitely pieces from Givenchy by Ricardo Tisci collection that are simply gorgeous. I love, love his work! But if you are like me and can’t really spend thousands of dollars on a shirt or a dress go to MANGO, there I found strikingly similar to Givenchy pattern which can be an amazing substitute for a high-fashion dream.
