Kate Moss in Stella McCartney LBD |
I really love the idea of fashion creating different
illusions. Whatever it is, peak shoulder, dramatic peplum or just a smart
colorblock, it is amazing how easily you can “alter” your body using these tricks.
One of my favorite ones is definitely the black and nude combo which you can take
an advantage of in both clothing and shoes.

Just take a look at Kate Moss in this Stella
McCartney LBD and how curvy her figure appears to be! It is all thanks to a
nude side panel that literally carves Kate’s body into a shape a-la Marilyn
Monroe. The BCBG Max Azria Alyona Strapless Dress is another great example of a clothing “wizard” that also creates an hourglass silhouette even on a relatively straight body type. Thanks to the higher waist line and colorblock technique (nude is on the bottom part) it also makes your legs look a mile
long. You can achieve a similar effect by wearing “smart” shoes like my Charles
David black and nude booties. A lot of times ankle boots are not the
most flattering as they visually “cut off” the leg where as these actually elongate the
leg line. And of course they are so much more fun and edgier than a classic
pair of nude heels!
