Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!

The Nautical theme is one of the most logical and for that reason, most popular summer trends popping up in stores every year. And though the classic red, white and blue stripes are still the essence of this marine look they don’t necessarily define it.

Overall styling and small details can bring a nautical feel to your ensemble without obvious references. Pink, white and red stripes instead of the usual tri-color works just fine if you add some massive gold jewelry (especially in the nautical style) and maybe a pair of espadrilles. Some necklines, like boat necks and deep V’s with frilly ties, easily convey a sea-inspired feel if just play around with the traditional red, white and blue hues. Lastly, gold buttons are a magic detail that can turn pretty much any look into a nautical one.

Timeless and universally flattering for any figure and age, the nautical style is very forgiving and at the same time quite decorative and eye-catching. Considering the consistency of this trend and its general style, any nautical piece you buy is a great long-term wardrobe investment.
